Why isn't there an event like this in Lancaster?
We found ourselves asking this very question 6 months ago. For two years, we have attended various markets, fleas and fairs around Central PA as vendors with our other side gig - [re]chic. Lancaster has a few annual or semi-annual markets, but not consistent venues for local micro-entrepreneurs to connect with the community. "We should bring something like this to Lancaster!" we said, and Creatively Lancaster was formed!
The mission of Creatively Lancaster is to celebrate the power of creative collaboration to enhance our Lancaster community. We believe in the power of creativity to bring about innovation and change within individuals and among community.
Creativity is like a muscle that needs to be used and challenged to be strengthened. Everyone has unique creative power waiting to be released and shared. Communities get stronger when creative energies come together to fuel one another.
We envision Lancaster residents collectively harnessing their unique powers of creativity to enhance and encourage positive community collaboration. In short, Creatively Lancaster is about all things creative that enhance collaboration and community in Lancaster.
Sounds great, but how will Creatively Lancaster accomplish this mission? By providing venues for creative collaboration. We provides the outlet, you (the Lancaster community) supply the power. Our first outlet - a monthly Maker's Market. What is a Maker's Market? More on that in our next post!
